The Duke's Captive by Adele Ashworth - FictionDB
I liked the strong Viola and how she kept to her morals and the truth. Hte just hard not to see this story as a story about nonconsensual sex. Unlike another book, there is no rape or forced seduction maybe but more like lust- gotta jump your bones sex and was well played in order to move the story ahead.
Dispatched from the UK in 2 business days When will my order arrive? Since her acting and music reading talents were also suspect, she decided Broadway might not be for her.

I am oddly in the middle - I didn't care enough about either of them to find anything intense, and also not enough to get mad about things. I liked it overall and would read another by this author. But Adele worked very hard at her favorite pastime and, by her senior year in college, she'd read just about every Kathleen E. Ian Wentworth was kidnapped and held hostage in a dungeon, chained to a wall by Viola's sisters.
She could have happily loved Ian and been with him if he didn't have such a stubborn streak. Mar 17, Mary Vilarino rated it did not like it.

Wow, This was a very intense book, and there is a lot of morally ambiguous behavior on the part of both hoer and heroine. Viola is a woman with too many secrets.
